  • PB Plus PB Small

    Dual Secure Element for Key Storage

    Unlike other wallets that rely on the main microprocessor for key security, PineBridge uses two separate Secure Elements from different suppliers for Bitcoin protection.

    Specifically, PineBridge employs Microchip's ATECC608 and Maxim's DS28C36B to store the master key—your 24-word seed phrase for the BIP39 wallet.

    For compromise to occur, a backdoor would need to bypass all three chips: both Secure Elements and the main microprocessor.

    Genuine vs. Caution Indicators

    To protect against unauthorized access, PineBridge firmware is signed with a factory key. During startup, the firmware's signature and most flash memory are checked, with the Green/Red light indicating the outcome.

    The indicator light is controlled directly by a Secure Element, making it tamper-proof by rogue software. The light circuit is visible on the product's exterior to expose any physical tampering.

    Anti-phishing Words

    PineBridge PINs are split into two segments. After entering the first half, two unique words appear on-screen, specific to each PineBridge and not stored elsewhere.

    Memorize and check these words before entering the second half of your PIN for added protection against imposter devices.

    Enhanced Physical Security

    PineBridge’s transparent case allows for easy inspection against hardware tampering, and the secure design makes probing extremely challenging.

    If you forget your PIN, there’s no factory reset—an intentional security feature.

Special Trick PIN Features

PineBridge brings extra security options for every scenario!

Duress PIN

Set up an optional "duress PIN" that, when entered, operates as normal, but unlocks a completely separate wallet instead of your main one. Everything appears routine on-screen.

You can allocate some Bitcoin in this duress wallet, making it plausible while keeping your main funds secure.

This duress wallet is derived from the original BIP39 seed words, meaning no additional backup is needed. However, there’s no way to access the original wallet from this one.

Countdown to Brick PIN

This is a covert alternative to the "Brick Me" PIN feature, imposing a set delay (in minutes, hours, or days) upon login.

Once triggered, instead of the standard countdown, this mode discreetly deactivates the PineBridge (or can simply erase the seed), providing an extra layer of security in high-stakes situations.

This approach aims to deter attackers with a credible delay, similar to timed vaults, while protecting access to the device.

BIP39 Passphrases (25th word)

With support for BIP39 passphrases, you can create limitless decoy wallets. This feature aids in organizing funds or accounts. Unlike a single duress PIN, BIP39 lets you create multiple wallets as needed.

Brick Me PIN

Set an additional PIN, the “Brick Me” PIN, to destroy the secure element when used. This option, though entirely optional, can be part of your emergency plan.

Login Countdown

Enable a forced delay upon login, requiring the PIN to be entered, followed by a wait time (minutes, hours, or days). Afterward, re-enter the PIN to access the device.

Transparent Case

The clear case on PineBridge adds an extra layer of security. This design helps prevent unauthorized hardware modifications, a risk observed with some competitors’ wallets.

Unique Serial-Bag Number

Each PineBridge is packaged in a tamper-evident plastic bag, uniquely coded with a serial number. This "bag number" is recorded within the PineBridge when sealed, ensuring it remains unchanged. We encourage you to verify this number upon first powering up your PineBridge.
